Kelviin Manuel Pillay is a Malaysian disputes chambers specialising in trial and appellate advocacy — representing clients before all tiers of the Malaysian courts.
Every matter we accept is prepared as if it will be tested before a judge — because the strongest negotiating position, the soundest advice and the cleanest settlement all begin with a case that is ready to be argued.
We act for individuals, companies and institutions across Malaysia in disputes that carry real weight: commercial claims, appeals on questions of law, insolvency proceedings, employment disputes and challenges to administrative action.
Select a practice area to read how the chambers approaches it.
Contractual disputes, shareholder and partnership conflicts, banking and recovery claims, and commercial fraud — conducted from the first letter of demand through trial and enforcement.
Appeals and applications for leave before the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court, including the framing of questions of law, motions for stay pending appeal, and the written and oral advocacy that appellate work demands.
Winding-up petitions and their defence, injunctions to restrain presentation, claims by and against liquidators, and advice to directors and creditors navigating distressed companies.
Dismissal and reinstatement claims, representation before the Industrial Court, and advice to employers and senior executives on terminations, inquiries and restructuring.
Judicial review of decisions by ministries, regulators and public bodies, and proceedings raising constitutional questions — for applicants challenging state action and institutions defending it.
Domestic and institutional arbitration, the court proceedings that surround it — stays, enforcement and setting aside of awards — and structured mediation where a negotiated outcome serves the client better than a fought one.
Whether the matter ends in a courtroom or a settlement room, it moves through the same discipline.
Before strategy comes candour. We read the papers, test the claim and tell you — in writing — where the case is strong, where it is exposed, and what it will take.
Litigation rewards the side that decided its endgame first. We map the procedural route, the evidence it requires and the points of leverage along the way.
Written submissions and oral argument prepared to the standard of the appellate courts — because that is where hard cases are finally decided.
Kelviin Manuel Pillay is the principal of the chambers. He read law at the University of London, obtained the Certificate in Legal Practice, and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2021.
Before founding the firm in 2024, he practised with the chambers of Gopal Sreenevasan and with Arnold Andrew & Co., where he built a civil litigation practice with focused training in courtroom advocacy. He has appeared before the Malaysian courts at every level, acting for government bodies, multinational organisations, high-net-worth individuals and SMEs — with a present emphasis on high-value corporate and commercial disputes.
He serves on the Malaysian Bar Council's Environment and Climate Change Committee, and works in English and Malay, with conversational Tamil.
Set out the nature of the matter briefly. We will respond to confirm whether the chambers can act, and propose a time to speak.
